Freddy’s Motto for life.
“Nothing pleases me more than a group of adults who can work together, provide a good service, make some money, and have some fun doing it!”
– Freddy Trujillo
This is my story.
About Freddy.
For the first time in his life at age of 9 Freddy was placed in a Behavioral Inpatient Center in Elizabeth New jersey, were he was born and raised. Freddy describes this first experience and feeling of losing his freedom very early on in his life as “The beginning of many more to come”Freddy had always been in trouble in school and by the age of 10 none of the school’s in the local area would accept him into their schools due to how many suspensions and how many schools he had gotten expelled from for his aggressive behaviors and altercations to with his fellow classmates and teachers. By the age of 11 Freddy began his life in the streets of New Jersey smoking weed, starting to involve himself with a local neighborhood gang ,and also began his experiences with substances with his father. At the age of 13 Freddy was put in a situation after a violent altercation with his father whom he usually gotten into violent altercations with because of the verbal abuse that would usually turn violent this was a regular occurance after his mother divorced his father and moved to florida to begin a new life due to his father drug use. The altercation ended up with Freddy having his nose broken and a puddle of blood in the spot were his father beat him. Witch lead his mom who was in Florida at the time to contact the police and report the abuse to police department. The police forced Freddy to move to Florida with his mother and not even a year into Freddy being in Miami Florida he was placed in the foster care system at the age of 14 years old after being incarcerated and his mother no longer being able to manage his behaviors at home.
After Freddy was placed in the foster care system his anger worsened and he began to run away from the foster homes and was turning to the streets for the love he longed for as a young child. he began to get arrested on a regular basis to support himself and his drug habits. By the age of 15 Freddy was arrested and charged with Aggravated Armed Robbery in the first degree and was facing 25 years as a minor. He was released on house arrest and shortly after was taken to a foster home in Miami FL and cut his ankle monitor and went on the run. With an APB Warrant out for his arrest he turned back to robberies and home invasions to feed himself. After being on the run for 2 month Freddy was caught breaking into a house and was chased down the Street by the homeowners who opened fire on him shooting him once in His elbow dropping him to the pavement where the two men proceeded to beat Freddy almost to death, striking him for at least 5 minutes with a wooden baseball bat, and a 2 by 4 wood club almost beating him unconscious until the police showed up and arrested Freddy and rushed him to the hospital.
After facing his new charges and being faced with the charges that were pending before he cut his ankle monitor off and went on the run he was in a deep pit and was sent to a long term juvenile detention facility were his anger worsened. Fights were a regular occurance in Freddys life behind bars, but one day he assaulted one of the people incharge in the facility and broke the man nose in 5 places after being harassed by the officer for what freddy says went on for months before the incident. He was charged for the assault and was sent to a maximum security facility for juvenile offenders were he caught another charge on a corrections officer after an altercation with the prison staff member and was charged again and was sent to another facility. Where he caught yet again another charge but this time on a inmate sending the inmate to the hospital after finding out the other inmates charges against a child. Now Freddy was facing 40 years in prison in 3 different county’s and fought those charges in the county jail back and forth from prison for the remaining 2 years he was incarcerated. After a long 4 years Freddy was released on all the charges against him at the age of 19 years old after countless hours of studying law books, the united states constitution and taking law classes inside of the county jail. Were he shortly after discovered his passion to want to serve and work hand to hand with the same system that he once swore he would never dream of returning to!
Two months after his release Freddy was nominated to become a youth advisory council member for Citrus Family Care networks in Miami Dade County the leading child welfare agency in Miami Dade County and Monroe County, shortly after Freddy began to speak and advocate in front of Boards and Administrations such as Voices For Children,Citrus Family Care Networks, State Representatives, State Legislators, And statewide non profits. Freddy gave a powerful testimonial keynote speech at the 25th annual Voices For Children gala helping them raise that night a whopping $700,000 in donations for the guardian ad litem program in Miami FL, He has also spoken for multiple law classes for students in extracurricular classes explaining laws and rights for youth, and has traveled across the state of Florida giving his testimonial and motivating speeches for events, fundraisers, and and school assemblies.
Freddy dedicates his time now to learn more about how tramas and abuse affects the minds of children early on in their development, And its effects on their outlook of life coming into adulthood. As well as furthering his speaking and advocacy career to reach his goal of telling his story to 100,000 people on how if one puts the mind to accomplish something nothing can stand in your way of achieving it! Freddy enjoys meditating; it’s one of his most practiced techniques for self discipline. Especially when he first wakes in the morning and says “ it’s one of the earliest commitments i took on my journey to healing that showed results very early on”.
Freddy plans on continuing Speaking at more events, and assemblies as well as advocating and being the voice for the silenced youth population. To be able to share his story and wisdom and bring hope to anyone who hears it. Freddy’s story is definitely one that can be looked at as motivational and an example because it shows that anyone who puts their mind to it can overcome any obstacle and hardship in their lives as long as they put there mind, will, and focus to it they can overcome anything and accomplish their dreams.
